County staff reported a request from the communications officer for an $11,000 increase in the communications budget to cover toner/printer needs and a substantial software interface and installation cost for a new radio system. Commissioners asked whether the work and software were included in the Motorola (radio vendor) contract and pressed for clarification of the $15,000 “other equipment” line cited in the packet.
