Committee members returned to a prior study‑session discussion on city liability insurance and whether the city should consider self‑insurance at some future point. The city manager told the Audit and Finance Committee that for a city of Independence’s size, self‑insurance is likely to become financially attractive at some time and recommended proactive contingency planning.
