Main Street bridge deck poured; sidewalk, lighting and parapet work next

City staff provided a construction update on the Main Street bridge project, reporting that the bridge deck was poured on Friday, March 21, and is currently curing to reach required strength.

A presenter identified as Mr. Beyer said roadway grading and curb work were completed on the Water Street side of the bridge; a subcontractor will remove and repour the south-side sidewalk between the river and First Street while maintaining temporary access for businesses and residents. Mr. Beyer said another subcontractor will install conduit and street-lighting bases this week, and that crews will begin forming the bridge parapets (concrete railings) next week.

Beyer described a roughly two-week cycle for each parapet side: one week for forming, rebar and concrete pouring, then about another week for curing, weather permitting. He said updates will continue as the project progresses and invited council members to ask questions.
