The Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization on Feb. 24 approved several procedural and programmatic items, including the Jan. 27 meeting minutes, a finalized slate of candidates for the Subregion B select board vacancy, election of a vice chair and endorsement of Transportation Improvement Program Amendment 3.
The minutes from the Jan. 27 meeting were approved after a motion by Harold Mitchell and a second by Kevin Galligan. In the vote recorded on the roll call, Derek Kravat, Harold Mitchell, Robert Lawton, Mark Forrest and Kevin Galligan voted yes; Rich Bilski and Scott Zelensky abstained. The motion passed.
The MPO finalized nominations to fill the Subregion B seat (representing Yarmouth and Dennis) by accepting a slate that included Select Board member Liz Argo of Yarmouth. Kevin Galligan moved to nominate Argo and Mark Forrest seconded; the roll-call vote recorded all present members voting yes and the motion passed. Staff said absentee ballots will be available for select board members in Dennis and Yarmouth ahead of the formal election at the March meeting.
Members elected Kevin Galligan as MPO vice chair for another one-year term. The nomination was moved by Harold Mitchell; a motion to nominate and elect in a single step was seconded and the roll-call vote was unanimous among members present.
The MPO also voted to endorse Transportation Improvement Program Amendment 3. That amendment programs a Federal Highway Administration Safe Streets for All supplemental planning grant awarded to the Town of Barnstable for approximately $315,000 for federal fiscal year 2025 to support road safety audits and related planning work. The motion to endorse the amendment was moved and seconded; a roll-call vote recorded the motion as adopted.
Other routine business, including adjournment, was approved by roll-call vote at the end of the meeting.
