Bond projects: pool replacement, maintenance/transportation renovation and roofing work move forward

District construction staff updated trustees on progress in the 2019 bond program and on several campus projects.
Project manager Kevin (presenting) said the Brazoswood pool replacement is progressing: rebar work is complete, the pool bottom was poured during spring break and crews planned to place shotcrete the week following the presentation. He said the pool’s center bulkhead and other structural elements will be formed with shotcrete and that the pool equipment building and deck plans have been finalized.
Staff also presented the Child Nutrition, Maintenance and Transportation renovation drawings, including proposed floor finishes and metal-panel colors. A guaranteed maximum price (GMP) presentation was moved to the May board meeting and construction was planned to begin immediately afterward with an anticipated completion date of Aug. 26, the presenter said.
Other projects: a RASCO stacking-lane project was out to bid and planned for construction after school release; Brazoswood competition-gym bleacher replacement was nearly complete with installation expected by the end of the next week; plumbing replacement and masonry work at Velasco were complete and painting was underway; roofing overlay work had started and was progressing quickly.
Ending: Trustees asked no substantive policy questions during the construction update; staff said remaining GMP approvals will be presented to the board at future meetings and that contractors report steady progress on timelines.
