Board approves $12,385 decrease change order for Riverton High pool lobby RTU

The Fremont County School District #25 Board of Trustees approved Change Order No. 1 with Sweetwater Air on March 20, reducing the contract amount by $12,385 for the Riverton High School pool lobby rooftop unit project.

The change order was approved by voice vote; no opposing votes were voiced. District buildings-and-grounds staff explained the technical reason for the cost change.

A board member moved the change-order approval and a trustee seconded. During discussion, a district staff member said the originally planned digital controls would not interface with existing systems in the building, so the contractor removed the digital control work and staff will “rework the old pneumatics that are up there,” producing the cost decrease. A trustee confirmed the math on the agenda documents; the paper showed a larger reduction offset in part by other adjustments.

The board had previously reviewed the RTU project as part of its facilities agenda and accepted the administrative recommendation to approve the change order.

Ending: The approved change order will be incorporated into the project’s contract and construction team records; trustees did not request further action at this meeting.
