Interim administration asks for patience as it enumerates contingency resource needs

Interim County Administrator Brandon Kalish and Interim Deputy County Administrator Elder briefed the committee on requests for contingency resources to support the interim administration team.
Kalish said the administration is prioritizing a small number of major projects and is not yet in a position to provide a detailed cost estimate for additional resources. “What I need is, like, $2,000,000 and a staff of 30, but that’s not gonna happen,” Kalish said, emphasizing that the immediate requirement is time and focused support rather than a single large appropriation.
Both Kalish and Elder identified two priority areas: drafting or updating comprehensive finance policy and countywide human-resources policy and procedures. Kalish said County Mutual (through Jessica Schrader) has offered resources to help with policies and procedures and that administration will reach back to the committee if and when precise costs can be estimated.
Committee members said they are willing to provide resources but asked administration to prioritize work tied to major ongoing projects (for example, the Tyler implementation) and return with specific cost requests when necessary.
Ending: Administration asked for “grace, patience and understanding” while it manages ongoing high-priority implementations and said it will request funding or contractor assistance at the point it can provide specific scopes and costs.
