Commission discusses debris-contract performance, accepts low bid for wingwall repair

Appling County commissioners spent time discussing debris-removal contractor performance after complaints about inconsistent pickup and about money leaving the county for contractor services. The chairman said staff and the new manager would meet to explore whether the county could perform some debris removal internally to reduce contractor costs; commissioners cautioned any county-led effort could require additional overtime and weekend work.
