County reports increase in property-code workload; inspector milestones noted

John Mall, Kane County property-code enforcement officer, told the Development Committee the office handled 27 new cases last month and completed two adjudications. Mall noted staffing milestones (inspector Santos Diaz’s one-year anniversary; Mall’s two-year anniversary) and said spring weather has prompted several recent complaints.
Commissioners asked whether the number represents a trend; Mall said caseloads vary month to month and that the office was slightly slower than the same month last year but was beginning to see increased submissions as spring arrives. Board members suggested adding district identifiers to the department’s spreadsheet for easier tracking by elected officials. Mall agreed to add that field.
