Board dissolves Cannabis Ordinance Task Force; staff to draft Article 73 and present summary before Planning Commission

The Lake County Board of Supervisors on March 18 accepted staff’s recommendation to conclude the Cannabis Ordinance Task Force and transition the group's work to formal ordinance drafting. Community Development Director Maria Turner told the board the task force — convened June 7, 2022 and originally intended as a six‑month process — has provided sufficient direction for staff to prepare a draft ordinance (proposed "Article 73") updating local cannabis regulations.

"Staff feels that we have received sufficient direction from the task force to transition over to our actual drafting of the ordinance," Maria Turner said. She told the board no formal action to adopt an ordinance is required at this meeting and that the draft would be routed to advisory bodies and public hearings before returning to the board.
