District staff summarized the process to fill a vacant board seat: applications must be submitted to board staff by 5:00 p.m. on September 5; applicants will present to the board and the board will make the appointment at the regular meeting on September 11, with the new member sworn in that night to complete the current term through June 2027. Eligibility requirements reiterated in the workshop: applicants must have been district residents for at least one year, be U.S. citizens and registered voters, and may not be employees of the David Douglas School District.
