Planning commission recommends multiple massage‑therapy approvals and a massage operator license

The Columbia County Planning and Zoning Commission on Aug. 7 recommended several approvals related to massage therapy and granted a license for a massage operator.

Staff presented a sheriff’s office referral and recommended approval of a massage operator license for Skin & Ivy Aesthetics and Massage Salon LLC to provide on‑site massage services at 807 Oakhurst Drive, Suite B. A commissioner moved, another seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote.

Separately, the commission recommended removal of a prior limiting condition on a property at 106 Davis Road so that an existing conditional use for massage — previously limited to a single suite — would apply to the entire property. Planning staff said the conditional use had been approved in 2021 and the change would allow a new tenant to use Suite E for therapeutic massage; the applicant, Tamika Hines (owner/applicant for Edge CRE 2 LLC), addressed the commission. The motion to recommend change of conditions carried.

The commission also recommended approval of a conditional use for massage at a property on Hereford Farm Road. Applicant Denise Devereaux (Havelina Enterprises LLC) told the commission she is a medical massage practitioner who plans to expand and teach other massage therapists in a new space; staff said hours would remain within a normal 9 a.m.–7 p.m. window and no site changes were proposed. The motion carried by voice vote.

All three items were recommended to the Board of Commissioners for final action.
