Resident says Arvada's Ask Arvada system and code enforcement responses are inconsistent

A resident told the Arvada City Council on Aug. 5 that attempts to report code-enforcement issues through the city’s Ask Arvada online portal produced no follow-up and that he could not upload photographs through the system.
"I've sent numerous issues to the Ask Arvada website, and we still have not heard anything from the responses," Ronald Levakin said, adding that he had submitted a case about an over-height fence and received inconsistent or no responses on other issues.
Why it matters: Levakin described delays and selective enforcement concerns, citing a fence he said exceeded height limits and a code citation he received for bags in his front yard. He asked the council for improved responsiveness and public records of enforcement actions.
Council response: Mayor Pro Tem Harmon and Council member Pfeiffer acknowledged system glitches and said staff are working on a new reporting system and will follow up. Pfeiffer said he has forwarded similar issues to staff and is consulting with staff member Tyla Friend on fixes. Harmon asked the resident to reach out and said staff would follow up.
Outcome: The matter was raised during public comment; the council did not take formal action but told the resident staff would be in touch to discuss the specific enforcement items.
