Polk County Commissioners approved an emergency contract to fully replace the roof at the Dunbar Complex after inspections found the roof saturated down to the wood deck; the court authorized a budget amendment to fund the work from the general fund.

Polk County Commissioners on Tuesday approved an emergency contract to replace the roof at the Dunbar Complex, saying infrared scans show the roof system is saturated down to the wood deck and can no longer be patched. County staff recommended full removal to the deck, inspection and repairs as needed, installation of tapered insulation to direct water to drains and scuppers, and a heavy-duty multi-layer waterproofing system.
