Troy, an emergency management official, told commissioners that the county's hazard mitigation plan had been approved by FEMA and that county-level adoption was the next step. "The plan did get approved by FEMA," Troy said. Troy said once the county adopts the plan, participating jurisdictions that adopt it within the required period will qualify for mitigation funds for their specific areas. "Once it's adopted, then it's fully in effect," he said, adding that jurisdictions have a year to complete local adoption. Commissioner discussion was minimal. A motion to adopt the resolution implementing the plan was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. "Motion's made and seconded. All in favor signify by saying aye," the chair said, and a recorded "Aye" followed. The board carried the motion. County staff said the resolution number had been prepared by staff member Heather; no resolution number was read aloud during the meeting. The board did not tie any specific mitigation projects or funding requests to the adoption during the session.
