At the Aug. 4 meeting the San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees approved several governance items: a one‑year extension to the superintendent’s rolling contract, approval of outside employment for a campus administrator with the Flippin Group under the terms of a written agreement, and annual routine resolutions for 4‑H extracurricular status and the district’s optional flexible school day (Pace/OFSDP) waiver. Human resources counsel reviewed the state restriction in House Bill 3372 (referenced in board presentation) regarding paid outside work by administrators who have authority over district procurement; the contract presented for McGill Elementary principal Colton Curtis asserts services will be performed on personal time, will not conflict with district duties and that the board has reviewed the agreement and found no conflict. The board voted to approve that contract. Trustees also adopted the superintendent evaluation and extended the superintendent’s contract to maintain a three‑year rolling term. Finally, the board approved the extracurricular designation and adjunct faculty status for Tom Green County 4‑H staff so students may be counted in attendance while participating, and approved the optional flexible school day waiver for at‑risk older students.
