County recorder reports steady activity; boat renewals increased transactions

County Recorder Ashton presented the quarter-four and fiscal-year 2025 recorder reports to the Carroll County Board of Supervisors, saying transaction counts were generally steady while some fee lines reflected a change tied to property sale values. Ashton told the board that county fees for the quarter were down to about $3,000, which she attributed to changes in sales activity rather than fewer transactions. She said the office saw more than double the number of transactions for boat renewals compared with the prior year, and that boat registration fees collected on the state side were higher in a boat-renewal year. Board members had no questions and moved to approve both the quarterly and annual reports by voice vote.
