Commission delays final vote on RV‑resort rezoning; applicant to return with site plan

Dickson County commissioners on July 21 moved a rezoning request for about 9.2 acres on Highway 48 South to the next regular session, giving the applicant time to complete required planning steps.

County planner Hayes said the applicant seeks A‑1 to C‑2 rezoning to open an RV and camping facility adjacent to an existing Dollar General and that the planning commission recommended approval 9‑0 at its June 12 meeting. "They would like to open an RV and camping facility," Hayes said, and staff included a proposed site plan and traffic‑impact analysis in the packet.

Engineer Jared Grace, representing the property owner, told commissioners that "he has not begun construction at all" on the parcel and described the proposal as an RV park with cabins and a small multipurpose building in a second phase. No members of the public had signed up to speak during the public hearing, and commissioners voted to carry the matter forward and take final action at the August meeting.

What happens next: If commissioners ultimately approve the rezoning, the project will require final site‑plan review and any applicable permits before construction may proceed. The county will review traffic impacts and other infrastructure needs as part of that process.
