Sumner County Library Board meeting ends without quorum; public raises hiring transparency and staffing concerns

Library Board Chair called a special-called Sumner County Library Board meeting to order Friday, July 18, but said the board lacked a quorum and could not take any votes or formal action.

The meeting drew public comment about the board's hiring process for two library director openings and staffing shortages at branch locations. Brooklyn, a resident who identified herself during public comment, said, "I just have concerns about how quickly these candidates have come forth," and urged greater transparency and follow-up with applicants.
