The commissioners court voted unanimously to give the county judge consolidated authority over burn bans and to adopt a phased approach to debris burning and pickup after the July 4 flood. The change is intended to allow the county to coordinate more closely with state debris contractors and search-and-rescue operations before allowing private burning.
