DuPage human services committee approves weatherization contracts and accepts additional CSBG funds

Motions that carried included: an award to Arcos Environmental Services Inc. for mechanical and architectural weatherization (contract not to exceed $135,000); an award to Chicago United Industries Limited to furnish, deliver and install Energy Star appliances (contract not to exceed $238,000); awards to multiple HVAC and weatherization contractors (including Healthy Air Heating and Air and My Greenhouse HVAC LLC) each with contract totals not to exceed $135,000; and a smaller award to Comfort First Insulation and Energy Solutions, Inc., for weatherization work (contract not to exceed $15,000). Committee members moved and seconded each item and recorded “aye” votes; the approvals were carried during roll call or voice vote.
Committee members also approved contract amendments that increased encumbrances to several community providers after the ILD CEO reported additional grant funding: an amendment increasing Home DuPage (DuPage Homeownership Center doing business as Home DuPage) by $40,000 — bringing its amended contract total to $86,888 — and an increase to Garden Works project by $4,992 (amended total not to exceed $74,992). Outreach Community Services Inc. received an increase of $15,000 for an amended contract total not to exceed $115,000.
During the proceedings, committee members thanked staff and community partners for preparing successful grant presentations and for support from communications staff; no member raised objections to the awards on the record.
The committee’s approvals place vendors and increased grant resources in position for the new program year; members indicated the committee would continue to coordinate outreach and program oversight with county staff.
