Council on Wednesday approved the Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation Commission’s recommendations for the 2025 Silver Box public art on‑loan program and authorized the city to execute artist agreements.
Ellie Cessnas, commission chair, presented the selection: an icosahedron by Kirk Cease for the post‑office location; Skyward Grace by Denny Henson for Fourth Avenue and Oak Street; Kingfishers by Lee Harris for Fifth and Oak near Columbia Bank; and an alternate, Beauty of Duality by Dave Gonzo. The selection committee received five submissions and the program provides a $1,000 stipend for each installed artist from the Sandpoint Urban Renewal Public Art Fund.
Councilors supported the commission’s picks and thanked members and staff for the program’s management. The move authorizes execution of artist agreements and a one‑year display cycle for the stainless steel boxes placed around downtown.
