The county will install a temporary surveillance system for two ballot drop boxes this fall after commissioners voted to add a Johnson Controls contract to next week’s consent agenda.
"I have a contract for consideration with Johnson Controls to provide the installation and configuration of the NVR and camera system for the ballot drop boxes, that will be in place in the fall at PSU Hub and State College Borough Building. The total of that work is $3,148," Chad, county staff, told the board.
Commissioners said the short‑term camera and lighting installation supports election security for periods when drop boxes are in use. "This is the surveillance system that we make sure that we're — I always have a camera and lights on those ballot boxes," Commissioner Concepcion said.
The board moved the Johnson Controls Security Solutions contract to next week’s consent agenda for formal approval. Staff said the system is a seasonal installation that Johnson Controls has provided in prior years.
