Board approves supervisor pay increase effective Jan. 1, 2026

The Bedford County Board of Supervisors approved a pay adjustment for supervisors that will take effect Jan. 1, 2026. County staff presented the proposal, noting no adjustment had been made in four years and citing increased scope and complexity of the board’s responsibilities.
Under the approved resolution, the chair’s annual pay will be $12,800, the vice chair’s $12,200, and the other five supervisors’ pay will be $11,000. Supervisor Parker moved the resolution; Supervisor Sharp seconded. The board approved the measure by roll call. One supervisor asked the board to continue close budgetary oversight and watch county costs to taxpayers as future budgets are considered.
Staff said the change will not take effect until Jan. 1, 2026, and that the board’s action responds to changes in workload and inflation since the last adjustment.
