Wright County expands pavement-preservation work on Cass Ave 40; contracts Knife River for paving

The Wright County Board approved an amendment to its pavement-preservation contract to expand work on Cass Ave 40 and hire Knife River Corporation for paving.
County staff explained the road south of Clearwater had degraded faster than expected and that MnDOT’s project next summer would increase traffic; replacing a planned maintenance patch with a larger paving scope now would extend the road’s service life. The county will provide trucking for millings and use the stockpiles on other roads to reduce costs; Knife River will perform the paving work.
Commissioner Schagen moved to add the 3,000 feet to the contract; Commissioner Holland seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The board recorded no change to the contractor beyond the scope addition and no specific dollar amount was given during the meeting. Staff said the revision is intended to be cost-effective by leveraging county trucking and available millings.
