Kevin, the engineering department representative, gave a broad project update to the Lebanon City Board of Works and Public Safety on June 23, reporting status across several street, park and development efforts.
Key updates: Grant Street Phase 2 is in the contractor question-and-answer phase with INDOT preparing to open bids July 9; Elizaville Road is nearing final driveway patching and seal-coating; Fordyce Road work included full-depth asphalt patching and reuse of underlying concrete where possible, with topsoil and sod expected by week's end; Witt Road appraisals and right-of-way acquisition conversations are under way ahead of a 2026 letting; and the 1-80 makeover projects (including Collier's Corner) are in utility and demo phases with some work pending electric service finalization.
Kevin also said the Memorial Park pickleball courts' surfacing and lighting were installed and expected to be completed by the end of the week, with Abner Longley Park courts running three to four weeks behind schedule. The Admiral Longley Park fishing pier punch-list items were completed. On the police and fire facility side, the Board learned the developer closing for a new fire station (BOT closing) is complete and that a ground-breaking is planned for July.
Project timelines, where provided, were near-term: Grant Street bids on July 9, pickleball surfacing by the end of the week (weather permitting), and fire station ground-breaking in July. Several projects noted coordination with utilities, INDOT and the county surveyor's office for right-of-way or drain work.
