Delaware County approves child placement contract amendments, notes rate increases

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners approved amendments to child-placement service contracts on June 2, renewing a group of vendor agreements used to place and care for children under the county's custody.
"This is another wave of our renewals for our placement contracts," said Jennifer Wattenshade, business administrator with the Delaware County Department of Job and Family Services. She said the county maintains a list of providers as both placements in use and as safety nets.
Wattenshade told commissioners that most providers on the list are not currently serving placed youth but are retained as options if the county needs additional placements. She said each contract shows an overall increase; for the one youth currently placed with a listed provider, the county would see a 7.89% increase in rates. "If they are there for an entire year, it's an additional $10,080," Wattenshade said.
Commissioners did not debate the individual providers in detail and voted to approve Resolution No. 25-419 authorizing the first and second amendments to the child-placement contracts.
The amendments adjust placement rates and preserve a network of available providers for the county's child-welfare needs.
