Plano highlights Juneteenth celebration at Haggard Park

He said Juneteenth became a national holiday in 2021 and noted it commemorates the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston learned of their freedom on 06/19/1865, about two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
