The Laredo Metropolitan Planning Organization policy committee on June 18 voted to approve Resolution MPO 2025-09 endorsing the Texas Department of Transportation’s statewide active transportation plan, a planning effort to improve mobility for pedestrians, bicyclists and micromobility users across the state.
Staff told the committee the statewide plan aligns with the MPO’s recently adopted Vision Zero safety action plan and local active-transportation initiatives such as bike-month outreach. Staff said TxDOT held a local public meeting in Laredo on June 11 and that the plan is expected to move into implementation in 2026 once adopted by the Texas Transportation Commission.
The resolution was approved by voice vote. Staff said the MPO will present its support to TxDOT as part of the statewide outreach and continue to coordinate local active-transportation efforts with the state implementation schedule.
