CPC schedules annual public forum for July 23, assigns promotional duties

The CPC on June 17 scheduled its annual public forum for Wednesday, July 23, and approved a motion to have Neville, a CPC member, handle promotional activities including interviews. Eleanor, a CPC member, moved to hold the forum on July 23 and Neville agreed to manage the promotion; Connie, a CPC member, seconded the motion and the membership voted unanimously to approve it.

Members said the forum will include presentations from Nancy Friend of My Common Village on historic preservation and the affordable housing trust fund. The CPC said it was waiting for a response from the Nantucket Racquet and Sports Association and noted that Linda Loring presented at last year’s forum.

On promotional logistics, members discussed running advertising in two print outlets referred to in the meeting as “the current” and “the I and m,” and broadcasting a visual ad on NCTV 18. Neville said he would again handle interviews and the production side of promotions: “Yes. I’ll do it again. That’s great,” he said. Glenna, staff member, and other members agreed that the forum notice should appear on the town website; Glenna said the town’s website changes “don’t go in effect until July 1,” and members cautioned that posting new fiscal-year materials early can confuse the public.

Eleanor and other members asked staff to circulate the flyer to the town web team; members agreed to run ads at least the week before the forum, and possibly for two consecutive weeks. The motion to schedule the forum and assign promotional duties was recorded as approved during the meeting.
