Belvidere board updates on NexSys performance-contractor work to execute facilities plan

Belvidere CUSD 100 administrators updated the board June 16 on ongoing work with NexSys Solutions, the district’s performance contractor for years 1–3 of its facilities improvement plan.
District staff said NexSys has completed building walk-throughs, validated project scopes against the needs assessment completed in 2023 and is preparing RFPs and bid packages. Administrators said NexSys’s role is to manage design validation, contractor procurement and schedule oversight to reduce change orders and keep work on budget; the contractor’s payment is tied to project completion milestones.
Board members asked whether the performance-contractor role was planned when the facilities plan was approved. Administration said the scope and scale of the work, combined with vendor lead times for items such as elevators, made third-party project management necessary. The board was told some projects (track work, tennis courts) have already begun under earlier fund transfers and that larger projects will be brought forward after design and procurement steps are complete.
District staff and NexSys will present a consolidated project scope, timeline and RFP strategy to the board in July; contracts for individual projects will return to the board for approval. The board emphasized oversight and clarified that Nexus (NexSys) will align its proposals with the board-approved priorities before presenting awards.
