Wolf Road study team selects "Alternative 1" baseline sidewalk as preferred alternative

Village officials announced on June 12 that the Wolf Road study team has chosen Alternative 1, a baseline sidewalk option, as the preferred alternative for the Wolf Road redesign.
The village president said the Indian Head Park Board of Trustees and the Burr Ridge Board of Trustees have both indicated support and that those letters of support are posted on the Wolf Road study website.
Why it matters: Alternative 1 will be refined to determine specific roadway footprint, drainage, structural and environmental impacts and potential property impacts. The next phases require substantial coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Federal Highway Administration and other jurisdictional agencies, which the village said will take time.
Details provided at the meeting noted that Alternative 1 includes a continuous sidewalk on the west side from Plainfield Road to 70th Street, a partial sidewalk segment on the east between Plainfield Road and Acacia Drive North, and a sidewalk segment between 72nd and 79th streets. The study team anticipates Corridor Advisory Committee meeting number 3 and public meeting number 3 in 2027, when refined impacts and property considerations will be presented.
The village indicated public comments collected during the study have been compiled at wolfroadstudy.com and that the study team mailed or emailed individualized responses to commenters in early June.
