Commission approves county engineering help for Medfield cemetery improvements

The Norfolk County Commission on June 11 approved a request from the town of Medfield for county engineering assistance on improvements at Vine Lake Cemetery.
The commission approved a motion to provide construction layout, grade elevations and intermittent field staking to support the town’s roadway extension, drainage and retaining-wall work for new internment areas. Patrick (last name on file), representing the county engineering department, told commissioners the work would be intermittent and performed as the town conducts the construction work.
Chairman Shea and commissioners asked about scheduling and updates; Commissioner (first name) Stad(e) asked for recurring project updates and Director Cronin said department heads will be scheduled to report project activity through the summer. The commission voted unanimously to approve the request and authorized staff to sign the paperwork presented at the meeting.
Patrick described the assignment as on-call, intermittent assistance to translate the design plans to field line-and-grade stakes as the town builds the cemetery expansions; he said the county would provide construction layout services for road, drainage, curbing and retaining wall work as needed.
Commissioners and staff noted similar requests from other towns and Cronin said the county will bring department heads in over the summer to brief the commission on major project activity.
