Concord Planning Commission approves oversized master sign program for Sutter Plaza

The Concord City Planning Commission on May 21 approved a master sign program for Sutter Plaza, a 2.11-acre retail center at 1801 and 1825 Sutter Street, allowing 34 wall signs and two center identification signs totaling 1,076 square feet. The commission adopted Resolution No. 25-08 PC by a 3-0 vote.

The change to the center’s signage—proposed by Cardoso Property Management and described in staff presentations as including 21 existing signs and 15 new signs—exceeds the downtown mixed-use district’s 300-square-foot sign-area limit. The approved program yields about 359% of the district allowance (1,076 sq. ft. ÷ 300 sq. ft.), roughly 259% more sign area than the code baseline.
