Commission approves two immunization task orders to continue state-funded services

Daniels County commissioners approved two task orders that continue state-funded support for local immunization services managed through the county and public-health partners.
County staff explained the task orders cover funding distributed through the Montana Department of Health to local partners who assist with immunization administration and outreach. Commissioners were told the upcoming budget year’s task order reduces the available monthly payment compared with the prior year. Staff and public-health representatives clarified that the task order funds are intended to support operational activities such as staff time, outreach and administration and are not a direct mechanism to buy vaccine doses; vaccine procurement remains the responsibility of the hospital or public-health provider.
County counsel said the current task order will be retroactive to July 1, 2024, for the remainder of the fiscal term and that a separate order will cover the next fiscal year starting July 1. The county’s health partners and staff confirmed they will submit quarterly claim forms to the county to receive the funds. Commissioners approved both task orders by motion and recorded the vote.
Commissioners asked whether the state could increase appropriations in future quarters; staff said appropriations are set by state and federal task orders and that increases are possible but not guaranteed. Commissioners recorded acceptance of the task orders and directed staff to provide the budget detail requested by the commission.
