Board approves $86,500 proposal to ready Warren Intermediate for NETI program

Gordian senior account manager John Ryder said the project was priced using Sourcewell’s construction catalog and Kansas market factors.
Beth (district staff) introduced the proposal and said Gordian and local contractor BKM produced the bid. The proposal cost referenced on the record was $86,500; a brief additional utterance of “587” occurred in the transcript and is noted as ambiguous in the meeting record. John Ryder said BKM was selected based on the Sourcewell contracting process and local availability. The district said the work must be started to complete by Aug. 1 and that the project would be paid from the district capital budget.
Trustee Dobie moved to approve the project; Trustee Price seconded. “Motion by miss Dobie to approve project for Warren, by miss Price. All in favor?” President Mike Carney asked; voices answered “Aye.” The clerk recorded the tally as “7 0, looks like.”
Staff said they chose job-order contracting because a traditional hard-bid procurement would not meet the timeline required to complete work before the school year. Gordian said Sourcewell’s contract meets competitive-bidding guidelines and that EKM/BKM were on Sourcewell’s contractor roster for the region.
The board gave authority to proceed and directed staff to execute the necessary contract with Gordian/BKM, using capital funds allocated for facilities work at Warren Intermediate.
