Board approves Motorola Flex records‑management and CAD system for sheriff's office

The Warren County Board of Supervisors voted May 20 to authorize the county administrator to execute a purchase agreement for the Motorola Flex Records Management and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system requested by the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Supporters, including the sheriff's office, told the board the integrated system will reduce redundant data entry between CAD and records management and help deputies and other county agencies exchange records with the regional judicial system and Front Royal Police Department.

"It will reduce redundant data input," the sheriff's office said during the meeting, noting that current systems required manual re‑entry of information. The sheriff's office also said the package includes judicial sharing and will save time for deputies and the prosecution office.

Board members asked about priorities and available funds. County and department representatives said the purchase would be funded in part by current‑year budget savings from unfilled positions and that implementation would take time.

A motion to authorize execution of the purchase agreement passed on a roll call vote with supervisors voting in favor; the motion authorized the county administrator to finalize the agreement as requested by the Sheriff's Office. No purchase price was presented in the public portion of the meeting minutes.

The Sheriff's Office indicated the new system could reduce clerical time and improve case‑file exchange with the courts; deputies and the prosecution office are expected to benefit from improved electronic sharing once the system is implemented.
