Beloit issues Pride and Juneteenth proclamations; local groups accept

The Beloit City Council issued proclamations recognizing LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and Juneteenth in June 2025. Representatives from local organizations accepted the proclamations and urged community support for related events.
A representative from Yellow Brick Road accepted the Pride Month proclamation and highlighted data from the Trevor Project on youth suicide risk, saying that having one accepting adult can reduce that risk by 40 percent. The council president, Kevin Levy, presented the proclamation recognizing June 2025 as Pride Month in Beloit and encouraged residents to raise awareness of discrimination affecting LGBTQIA+ residents.
The council also presented two Juneteenth proclamations. Leslie Bridges accepted a proclamation on behalf of YWCA Rock County and invited residents to Juneteenth events the organization is hosting; the proclamation text encouraged attendance at a Juneteenth celebration listed in the proclamation materials (the proclamation referenced a noon–8 p.m. event at Telfer Park on Saturday, June 20). Tracy Dumas accepted a separate Juneteenth proclamation on behalf of Rising Queens; the Rising Queens proclamation referenced an event scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a Saturday at Jones Pavilion in Riverside Park.
Speakers thanked the council for the recognitions and encouraged attendance at their events. The proclamations were presented by Council President Kevin Levy and accepted by organization representatives; no council action beyond presentation was required.
