The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors approved permission-to-enter agreements for two bridge replacement projects and received an update from county engineering and secondary roads staff at the May 19 meeting.
Engineer Roman Munson (name as spoken) presented signed permissions-to-enter from property owners Dave and Donna Karknick and from Joanne Busta for separate bridge replacement projects on Windsor (parcel references given in the packet). The board authorized the chair to sign both agreements by motion.
Secondary roads staff reported that work on several bridge and road projects is underway. Staff said bid group 4 (southwest quadrant) began and that contract work on SC 1950 required closure while crews removed an aged substructure; crews purchased necessary materials and closed Windsor at specified points for a likely two-week project, weather permitting. Staff also described culvert replacements, ditch cleaning, spot rock applications, and equipment repairs (including a tractor tire issue). The department reported coordinating on building roof repairs and noted a 50-year lease for certain shop space in Fredericksburg that may affect decisions on building maintenance.
Staff described a transportation research project, TR 797, a joint effort with Iowa State and other counties to seek Iowa Highway Research Board funding for delta costs above the county share. The board did not change any project scopes at the meeting and approved the permissions-to-enter and chair signatures for the bridge work.
