District staff present facilities‑master‑plan update; sites prioritized for next bond package

District staff and the district’s architect for education presented a master‑plan update that inventories prior Measure LCF projects, summarizes remaining needs at each campus and outlines candidate projects for the next bond cycle.

The update reviewed completed work and outstanding priorities at Palm Crest, La Canada Elementary, Paradise Canyon, and La Canada High School. Completed projects since 2017 included two‑story classroom buildings, classroom modernizations, perimeter fencing and camera upgrades; remaining priorities cited by staff and parent volunteers include administrative reconfigurations, parking and drop‑off redesign, replacement of end‑of‑life portables, cafeteria/kitchen modernizations, and upgrades to athletics and arts facilities at the high school.

Architecture for Education described a planning process involving a leadership committee, a larger 75‑member facilities committee, in‑person workshops and an online survey. Staff told trustees they will refine project scopes and return to the board with cost estimates over the summer to prioritize projects for a future bond measure. Trustees indicated the next step is unit‑cost estimates to guide decisions about what can fit in a bond package.
