Council approves upgrade to CivicPlus/MuniCode codification service for live code updates

The Dalton City Council approved an upgrade to the city’s codification service on June 2 to allow more frequent, near–real-time updates to the city code online.
City staff said the city currently pays $992.25 per year for MuniCode/CivicPlus codification and supplements are produced quarterly. Because the new alcohol code adopted in November 2024 still had not been published as a supplement, the City Clerk sought a premium service called OrgBank that enables immediate posting of adopted provisions between formal supplements. Staff recommended the premium service at an annual cost of $1,375 and the council approved the upgrade by motion.
Staff said the change will help field staff—particularly code enforcement and police—access the most up-to-date ordinance text while working in the field and reduce confusion created by delay in codification supplements. Council approved moving forward with the service and the slightly higher annual fee.
