Samuels Group reports steady progress on Page County construction project; generator procurement, fire-suppression bids pending

Samuels Group superintendent Brian Schindler told the Page County Board of Supervisors that site work and structure work on the county construction project are progressing and largely remain on schedule despite recent rain.
Schindler said workers had formed about 80% of the southwest wall and that rain delayed concrete pours; crews planned to attempt placement the following day or Thursday depending on site conditions. He described ongoing underground work by electricians and plumbers, precast installation sequencing and the placement of a retention pond on the west side of the drive. He estimated earthwork to be roughly 90–95% complete, with touch-up grading and final seeding to follow after construction activities finish.
The project team is finalizing procurement for the county-purchased generator from Cummins and will submit the generator purchase for IMED approval and procurement processing. Schindler said fire-suppression work remains a pending subcontract: the county has a placeholder for that line item on the pay application and will reissue the package after Memorial Day; four contractors have expressed interest.
Superintendent Schindler said the team plans to provide weekly updates and another pay application is expected in mid next week. County staff also discussed using proceeds from the sale of the old engineer’s office to fund a west/southwest annex parking lot and asked the engineer to return with plans and quotes at the next meeting.
