Hamilton County staff presented an update on the county fellowship program and invited the 2024–25 fellow to summarize her year‑long rotation through county departments.
Josh (Human Resources), who administers the fellowship, introduced Emily Dalton, the 2024–25 Hamilton County fellow. Dalton, a recent University of Cincinnati graduate with a degree in political science, described rotations in human resources, the budget office, community planning and development, and environmental services. She said her projects included redesigning the county exit interview survey, reviewing comparable city and county budgets and supporting community planning outreach such as the Kenwood area transportation study.
Dalton described direct, on‑the‑street experience with county outreach and reentry programs that she said informed her view of local government operations. Commissioners praised the program as a recruitment and professional‑development tool; Commissioner Stephanie Summerall Dumas and others said the county should continue both internships and the rotational fellowship model and requested to review Dalton's exit‑interview redesign questions.
Josh said the county is entering the third year of the fellowship and that the next fellow was due to start shortly. There was no formal board action; this was an informational presentation and recognition of the fellowship program.
