The Village of Salem Lakes board reviewed a draft public‑comment policy on May 19 and debated whether to restrict who may speak during public comment. The draft initially limited public comment to village residents, businesses and media members. Several trustees and members of the public opposed that restriction, saying it would have prevented speakers who traveled to the meeting to address neighborhood issues such as the Rock Lake pier.
