Pasco MPO adopts $560 million TIP; board asks FDOT to study spray‑jet resurfacing technology

The Pasco County Metropolitan Planning Organization voted to adopt its draft FY 2026–2030 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), which staff said programs more than $560 million of state and federal transportation investment in Pasco County over the next five fiscal years.
MPO staff presented the TIP additions and updates, which include an interchange improvement project at I‑75 and State Road 52, widening of the Suncoast Parkway north of State Road 54, landscaping projects along I‑75 and a resurfacing project on US 98. Board members asked staff to zoom into a drainage/resurfacing item on US 19 to confirm limits in the Hudson area and to confirm timing for a Centennial Road sidewalk project from U.S. 301 to Newsom Road that is already in the program.
During the TIP discussion, Commissioner Jeff Mariano moved approval of the TIP with an explicit request that MPO and FDOT staff review "spray jet" resurfacing technology and consider piloting the method or equipment to test longer pavement life. The board agreed to include that direction and approved the TIP unanimously. FDOT staff said their materials lab typically pilots new technology off interstates first but would check the status of research and testing and report back.
Action on the TIP will guide FDOT and county project delivery during the five-year window; the board also asked staff to follow up on project limits and resurfacing technologies discussed at the meeting.
