Freestone County dispatch migration nears completion; generator controller flagged for repair

County dispatch and IT staff gave an operational update at a public meeting, saying a planned migration of dispatch systems is moving toward cutover but that a generator controller at the dispatch site needs attention.

A dispatch/IT staff member reported that training on new systems (LGS and eForce) is wrapping up and that camera systems and network switches around the county are being installed. "LGS and e force training is pretty much wrapping up, complete, so systems going live," the staff member said.

The staff member said Windstream will install SD-WAN and a firewall and that phones and network upgrades would raise speeds "from the 10/100 to 1 g" once complete. They said they were working with an engineering group to secure a firm date for the cutover and expected a short buffer period for testing after SD-WAN and firewall installation.

The report noted that Christine had warned the team could not operate systems in parallel during the cutover. "Christine's saying that, you know, we're not gonna be able to run any systems parallel, that once we switch over, everybody will move over to that location," the staff member said. Staff estimated the migration could occur after a holiday weekend and that full operations would resume when staff return.

Separately, the staff member said the automatic transfer controller for the dispatch generator was currently not powered. "That auto controller that's sitting in the ... it's completely ... nothing's alive on it," the staff member said, and noted they planned to test it and review the controller with maintenance staff.

No formal action was taken; the update was presented for information and staff follow-up. The report included an implementation timeline contingent on Windstream's installation schedule and a planned post-installation testing window.
