Melanie from Cabarrus County Library told the Board of Commissioners on May 5 that staff need to reallocate donated funds and correct coding errors in the fiscal-year-end budget.
She said Friends-of-the-Library groups at branch locations donated funds for summer-reading supplies and that staff will move $425 from a donations line into programming supplies. Donations made in memory of deceased residents and other gifts will fund purchases of memorial books; staff asked to move $210 from donations into circulation stock to cover those purchases. Melanie said two other items are simply corrections of miscoded lines from the year. Because the board lacked a quorum, commissioners received the briefing and staff will return the budget amendment for formal approval when appropriate.
Melanie also invited members of the public interested in forming a Friends group for the Affton branch to contact the library when information is released.
