Worcester City Council voted unanimously Monday to adopt Ordinance 2025-08, updating the city's codified ordinances to include two amended traffic-code provisions.
The ordinance, read into the record by Clerk Miss Hamilton, replaces existing codified language with current replacement pages. Council member Miss Kneppick said the updates were largely housekeeping and noted the city is replacing only two ordinances this year rather than a larger batch.
Council discussion was limited. Kneppick identified the two amended ordinances as changes to the city's rule on police officers pursuing fleeing suspects and to the impoundment of vehicles on public property. Kneppick moved to suspend the rules and adopt the ordinance; the motion to suspend the rules and the adoption motions passed on roll calls with all members present voting yes.
Adoption followed a final roll call in which Miss Kanapik, Mister Abernathy, Mister Myers, Miss Wharton, Mister Malta, Mister Jose and Mister Gaffey were recorded voting yes. The ordinance took effect immediately under the council's action.
The council did not provide additional policy analysis or implementation timelines during Monday's meeting; the amendments were presented as routine codification of changes made earlier in the year.
