Elyria council authorizes road salt purchase and solid-waste container agreement
At its May 5 meeting, Elyria City Council approved an agreement to buy road salt through the Ohio Department of Transportation and authorized a contract with Republic Services for solid-waste container services; both measures were passed under suspension of rules and declared emergencies.

At its regular meeting on May 5, 2025, the Elyria City Council approved two purchasing actions: authorization for the mayor to enter an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation to buy road salt, and authorization for the mayor to enter into a contract with Browning-Ferris Industries of Ohio Inc., doing business as Republic Services of Elyria, for solid-waste container services.
