Steve Dakin, director of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, told the Senate Education Committee the executive budget recommends automatic math acceleration for students who score at the highest level on the Ohio state math tests. Under the proposal, students meeting that threshold would be enrolled in advanced math opportunities the next school year unless a parent opts out.
